Patna: A 48-year-old woman and his 20-year-old son were killed while her daughter received severe injuries after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle near Barheta Chowk in the Hathauri area, Muzaffarpur district, late Sunday. The car driver has been arrested in the matter.
The victims have been identified as Lalita Devi (48) and her son Aman Kumar (20), residents of Narkatia village in the Rampurhari area, East Champaran. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
"Kumar's younger sister is undergoing treatment at a private hospital and is said to be critical," Town SDPO-2 Vinita Sinha said. "The trio were on their way home from Garha Pashu Mela (cattle fair) when the incident occurred. On their way back, a speeding car rammed into their bike, causing all three to fall on the road. Aman died on the spot, while his mother and sister were seriously injured."
The locals took the mother-daughter duo to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for treatment. Lalita succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment and her daughter was later shifted to a private hospital.
"The accused attempted to flee but the locals had gheraoed and caught him. They informed the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested him," the SDPO said, adding that further investigation is going on in the matter.
