An Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Digha, pass out, Chandan Kumar, committed suicide by hanging himself with the ceiling of his room at his house in Chailitand locality under Alamganj police station late Saturday night. His family members found the body hanging on Sunday morning. No suicide note was found from the room.
SDPO, Patna City, Sushil Kumar said that Kumar had demanded money from his father Ishun Sao, who runs a sweets shop in the locality.
An altercation had taken place between the father and the son, he said and added that it seems Kumar committed suicide in a fit of anger. The body was sent to NMCH for autopsy.
Valuables stolen: Cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 lakh were stolen from the house of a retired chief engineer, water resources department, Ramekbal Mishra, in Abhiyanta Nagar under Rajiv Nagar police station on Saturday night. The thieves also took away 500 Singapore dollars besides a costly camera, Rs 22,000 in cash, a cellphone and some clothes.
Mishra said that he had left for his native place Darbhanga from Patna by Kamla-Ganga Express on Saturday. As he reached Darbhanga, his caretaker Bhogendra Mukhiya informed him about the theft.
The thieves entered the house by removing the iron grills of the windows of two rooms. They broke open two almirahs and took away gold and silver jewellery, silver coins and other items. “Bhogendra was sleeping in an adjacent room when the thieves entered the house," Mishra said, adding that he has lodged a written complaint with the Rajiv Nagar police station.
