‘Kiran Bedi has approved 1,300 files in 1st year of tenure’

Lt governor Kiran Bedi approved 1,300 files during her first year in office, said a statement from the Raj Nivas, in an effort to refute charges of chief minister V Narayanasamy that Bedi has not accorded approval to several files pertaining to welfare schemes and projects submitted by the government.

PUDUCHERRY: Lt governor Kiran Bedi approved 1,300 files during her first year in office, said a statement from the Raj Nivas, in an effort to refute charges of chief minister V Narayanasamy that Bedi has not accorded approval to several files pertaining to welfare schemes and projects submitted by the government.
Bedi released a pictorial workbook titled, ‘Team Raj Nivas’, highlighting her team’s one-year achievements on June 2.

Managing trustee of Vedanta Trust, Jaya Row, received the first copy. Raj Nivas witnessed a major transformation in the first year of lt governor Kiran Bedi’s tenure. The transformation was made possible through concerted and coordinated team work, said the statement.
Outlining the key facets of the contribution made by the Raj Nivas team, the release said 8,386 people visited the open house session hosted by the lt governor to listen to the grievances of all sections of people including government servants and pensioners. As many as 2,595 people called on the lt governor while 97 foreign and Indian dignitaries visited Raj Nivas and held discussions with Bedi on several issues.
Bedi convened 79 departmental meetings in the last one year. Bedi, who vowed to transform Raj Nivas into ‘People’s Nivas’, hosted festivals drawing 4,826 visitors and screened film series for students and general public that attracted 1,477 visitors.
Town hall meetings with officials of various departments attracted 11,500 public officials and efforts initiated by Raj Nivas resulted in the networking of non-government organizations, market associations and civil society organizations involving 3,752 people.
Raj Nivas extended training and capacity building to 386 officials in the last one year. Bedi had recently launched lecture series by eminent speakers that saw the participation of 646 people so far. Bedi and her team undertook 81 weekend rounds visiting urban and rural pockets of the territory and listening to the grievances of all sections of people.
