Pune: Three people, including a woman, suffered injuries in a pile-up of six vehicles near the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus depot on Paud Road on Tuesday. .
The accident occurred when the vehicles — three four-wheelers, two motorcycles and an autorickshaw — had stopped at a traffic signal near the depot. The Kothrud police have registered a case against a car driver who caused the pile-up.
The multi-vehicle collision led to traffic congestion on Paud Road during the peak morning hours. A 29-year-old engineer,
Swapnil Patil (29) of Thergaon, has filed a complaint against the car driver. Patil sustained injuries on his back and waist, an officer from the Kothrud police said.
The officer told TOI that the accident happened around 9.15am on Tuesday. “According to the complainant, a car first dashed his motorcycle, following which Patil fell off the bike. The car then went straight and rammed another car,” the officer said. He said this led to the pile-up as, after the impact, the driver of the other car lost control of the wheel and hit a motorcycle, an auto and a compact sports utility vehicle.
“The woman car driver sustained minor injuries near her eye, while another motorcycle driver suffered bruises on his legs,” he said.
“The car driver claimed he accidentally pressed the accelerator and lost control. Our probe is on,” the officer said.
