3-year-old boy electrocuted by live wire in Kondhwa

A three year old boy died due to electrocution on Friday after he came in contact with a wire hanging outside an electrical DP box at Ashrafnagar in Kondhwa Budruk.

PUNE: A three year old boy died due to electrocution on Friday after he came in contact with a wire hanging outside an electrical DP box at Ashrafnagar in Kondhwa Budruk. The incident took place around 11.30am.
The deceased, Sufiyan Arshad Ansari, was a resident of Ashrafnagar.
Sub-inspector Ashwini Patil of the Kondhwa police station, who is investigating the case, said, "Ansari and his friends were playing outside the house, when the boy came in contact with the wire hanging outside the DP box.

He died on the spot."
She said, "After the incident created commotion in the area, a shopkeeper used a stick to separate the boy from the wire. The neighbours initially took Ansari to his residence and then rushed him to the Sassoon general hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival."
Officials of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident and disconnected the power supply. Supply was restored after they repaired the DP box.
"We have registered a case of accidental death. We are conducting an inquiry to find out whether there was any negligence on the part of MSEDCL," Patil added.
Inspector Anjum Bagwan (crime) said, "A visit to the spot revealed that the DP box was open and the electricity wires were hanging outside. The DP box is located at a close distance from the boy's house." After conducting a postmortem at the Sassoon general hospital, authorities handed over the victim's body to his parents, he added.
MSEDCL officials said, "We have ordered an inquiry into the incident. Our electrical inspector will inspect the DP box and submit a report on whether there was any negligence on part of our officials. The victim's family members will be given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh."
