PUNE: The Pune police’s anti-human trafficking unit busted a sex racket on Friday at a lodge in Wagholi near Pune. Police rescued five women and two minors who had been forced into prostitution.
Eight people were arrested, including the kingpin Rajesh Shetty (32) from Wagholi. The unit, led by inspector
Sanjay Patil, raided the lodge on a tip-off received by constables Ganesh Jagtap and Tushar Alhat. “We sent a decoy customer. After his confirmation, we raided the lodge early on Friday,” Patil said.
The others arrested in the raid were Ravi Thapa (25), Vikash Chetri (22), Rameh Gouda (25), Lakhan Singh (22), Ravi Gouda, Eknath Manale (37) and Dinesh Shetty (52).
The girls were sent to a rescue centre in the city.
