Appreciate ‘nation first’ stand taken by Pune traders, will ensure protection for them: CM Fadnavis

Pune: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appreciated the "nation first" move by city-based traders to boycott Turkish apples in response to Turkiye's assistance to Pakistan during the ongoing military standoff with India.He also assured traders that they need not worry about "threats from Pakistan".A group of traders from Pune claimed they received threats from Pakistan after boycotting Turkish apples as a form of protest. The group also met the Pune police commissioner to inform him about alleged threatening calls.Reacting to the issue, Fadnavis, who was in Pune on Thursday to attend a conference of municipal commissioners and CEOs of municipal councils in the state at Yashada, lauded the traders' stand.He said, "I appreciate the ‘nation first' stand taken by our traders. I want to assure them that they need not worry about these empty threats. We will provide protection to all those who have taken the ‘nation first' stand."Following the terrorist attack on tourists in Kashmir's Pahalgam last month, India launched Operation Sindoor to destroy terrorist camps in Pakistan. Retaliation by the neighbouring country has sparked armed conflict. Thereafter, Turkiye's government has reiterated its support for Pakistan."The terrorist attack in Pahalgam was not just on Indians but against humanity. We are proud of our traders who have rejected those who helped such attackers of humanity. India attacked deep inside Pakistan and destroyed them," said Fadnavis.
