A car moving in the same direction ran over Aryan. The incident took place around 3.30 pm."
The drivers of the autorickshaw and the car fled without informing the police.
During investigations, police got the registration number of the car from a passersby. The boy was rushed to a nearby private hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The victim's mother had her six-month-old baby in her arms due to which she could not hold Aryan as he fell down, Pathare added. There was a delay in registering the complaint as she had lost consciousness after the incident and was in a state of shock. She is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Police personnel S B Jadhav registered a complaint against the car driver, said Pathare.
Sub inspector B T Patil said the car driver Nikhil Pawar (22) of Bibwewadi was arrested under the IPC and Motor Vehicles Act on Saturday.
Pawar claimed that he didn't realise that the incident was a result of his negligence. He said that he left the spot after some citizens rushed the boy to a hospital.
