Civic body won't honour Purandare
The Pune Municipal Corporation will not felicitate 'Maharashtra Bhushan' winner Babasaheb Purandare.
The decision was taken at an all-party meeting on Tuesday which was not attended by corporators from BJP, Shiv Sena and MNS.
"All leaders present in the meeting supported our move to scrap the proposal," Mayor Dattatraya Dhankawade said. Purandare, best known for his works on the Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji, was chosen for the 'Maharashtra Bhushan' award for 2015 amidst protests from a section of politicians.
Earlier, a group of corporators had given a proposal to felicitate Purandare.
