Deccan college and INTACH sign MoU

The Deccan college post graduate and research institute (Deemed University) and the Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration in the field of culture and archaeology, a statement issued by INTACH said.

PUNE: The Deccan college post graduate and research institute (Deemed University) and the Indian National Trust For Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaboration in the field of culture and archaeology, a statement issued by INTACH said.
The collaboration was announced on the 75th Revival Day of INTACH held on Sunday in the presence of INTACH chairman Maj Gen (Retd) LK Gupta.

In the statement, Navin Piplani, principal director, INTACH heritage academy, said that, this MoU was been signed to create awareness about the fact that archaeology and culture are interlinked.
Piplani further said that, "Training or capacity building programmes will be undertaken for the faculty and students of Deccan College. INTACH will benefit from the facilities that are available at the college and together we will promote research and scholarship."
INTACH, which is a non-profit organisation, was set up in 1984 with the aim of protecting and conserving India's natural built and cultural heritage. It has 180-odd chapters across the country.
VS Shinde, vice-chancellor of Deccan College, said in the statement that this MoU will ensure that more outreach programmes are under-taken to educate people. "When people are aware, they will participate in the preservation process. Moreover, efforts are being made to establish a national centre for heritage management and conservation," he added.
