Fine arts teacher found dead in Keshavnagar flat

Pune: A fine arts teacher working with a private school was found dead in her Keshavnagar flat on Saturday night. Preliminary investigations suggest she died by suicide.

Senior inspector Smita Wasnik of Mundhwa police station told TOI, “We recovered a note from the flat, purportedly written by the deceased, which stated, ‘I am unable to live an ideal life.’”

According to the police, the teacher lived alone. She had lost her father during her childhood, and her mother passed away from cancer approximately two years ago. “She was a talented painter and a dedicated fine arts teacher,” Wasnik added.

The incident came to light when a friend arrived at the teacher’s home on Saturday night to pick her up for a scheduled dinner. When repeated knocks and phone calls went unanswered, the friend grew concerned and alerted the neighbours and housing society members.

“The housing society informed the police, and our team reached the spot. Upon entering the flat, we found her hanging from the ceiling fan,” said inspector Wasnik.

Police suspect the teacher had been battling depression since her mother’s death. An investigation into the matter is on.
