THANE: The Manpada police station in Dombivli on Thursday arrested six people for selling fake revenue stamps valued at Rs 37 lakh.

THANE: The Manpada police station in Dombivli on Thursday arrested six people for selling fake revenue stamps valued at Rs 37 lakh.
The police laid a trap in the Gandhinagar Vaidya Chowk area after a tip-off, said inspector Shamsher Khan Pathan. The main accused, Prabhakar Ganpat Pawar (55), along with his wife Sarla, and another couple, Kailash and Sheetal Dongre, all residents of Dombivli, had gathered to sell the fake stamps.
Pawar is a former employee of the government security press at Nasik and was suspended in 1995 in a stamp-theft case.

Investigations revealed that the accused had sold fake stamps to parties in Bhandup, Dombivli and in Andheri.
