PUNE: The Airport police recently arrested a 20-year-old suspect and recovered three stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 90,000 from his possession.
The police have identified the suspect as Vishal Shivaji Waghmare, a resident of Pandharemala in Hadapsar. The Airport police team led by senior inspector Sanjay Naik-Patil has made the arrest.
Naik-Patil said that police constables attached to the Airport police station Sanjay Adhari and Vidhal Gade were patrolling in Vimannagar area, when they noticed one person riding a scooter in a suspicious manner.
“The duo chased the suspect for some distance and nabbed the rider,” Naik-Patil said.
Naik-Patil said that the suspect identified himself as Vishal Waghmare. “When Waghmare was asked to furnish the documents of the scooter, he told the police he did not have any documents,” Naik-Patil said.
He said that the suspect was brought to the police station for questioning. “During the sustained interrogation, Waghmare revealed that he had stolen the scooter from Hadapsar area,” Naik-Patil said adding, “Waghmare also revealed his involvement in two more two-wheeler thefts.”
The police have recovered three two-wheelers including two scooters and a motorcycle from Waghmare’s possession.
The investigating team comprised police inspector Vilas Sonde, assistant inspector M R Khokale, sub-inspector B V Gaikwad, police constables Mohan Kale, Vijay Sawant and Tushar Alhat.
