Mandal member held

PUNE: The Sahakarnagar police on Friday arrested a member of Aaisaheb mandal, Sagar Dhankawde (24), for allegedly trying to murder a member of a rival group, Sunil Wagh (33). Both are residents of Govindrao Patil Nagar in Dhankawdi. Wagh, a member of Jainath mandal, has filed a complaint with the Sahakarnagar police.
According to Wagh's complaint, Jainath members had beaten up some persons from Dhankawde's mandal on December 6, 2008.Wagh had then intervened and resolved the dispute. However, on Friday, Dhankawde, along with others in the group, attacked Wagh with sharp weapons. He lost two fingers in the assault.
Senior police inspector Bajirao Bhosale said Dhankawde, a cable operator in Sahakarnagar area, already has four cases -- murder attempts, dacoity and two body offences -- against him.
Dhankawde has been sent to the police custody till September 13. Assistant police inspector Shashikant Khot is investigating the case.
