On Tuesday afternoon, the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch officials arrested the aide, Kiran Yadav Suvarna (46), of Pimpri in the case. Later in the day, the police produced Suvarna before the Pimpri court and it remanded him in police custody till February 12. A search for the other person is going on.
Inspector Ajay Jogdand of the Pimpri police said, “She stated in her complaint that she gave the cash to the duo on two occasions with the hope that the daughter would join an MBBS course from 2017-18. She said till 2018, the two men kept promising her of securing an MBBS seat, but failed to deliver on their promise”.
“In the meantime, the woman secured admission for her daughter in a medical college. She then started demanding her money back and the duo cited excuses for being unable to return the cash. They also cited financial constraints due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Jogdand said.
