PUNE: On August 1, the students of the Deccan Education Society's Navin Marathi School observed freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak's death anniversary and 98th birth anniversary if Annabhau Sathe. A student's conference was organised in the school on Wednesday.
The entire organisation of this conference was completely managed by the students, a statement issued by the school management said.
A standard IV student from Shivneri class, Saniya Bhandare presided over the conference. Two students, namely Ganesh Pasalkar and Gauri Punde dressed up as Tilak and Sathe and presented themselves on the stage.
An oath ceremony was also conducted at the beginning of this student's conference. The lamp lighting ceremony and a small puja was performed by the school headmistress Kalpana Wagh, who was the chief guest, and senior teacher at the programme.
Wagh, then presented 10 important qualities of Tilak to the students while a student Harshwardhan Mulik informed the audience about Sathe and his work. Students delivered speeches on the works of both, Tilak and Sathe.
In order to seek more information about Lokmanya Tilak, the students of standard IV were also taken to Kesari Wada in Narayan Peth. Headmistress Wagh offered a garland of flowers to Tilak's statue at the Kesari Wada on the occasion.
