A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday for duping a woman from Dhanori of Rs11.19 lakh by promising a loan of Rs50 lakh in May.

PUNE: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Friday for duping a woman from Dhanori of Rs11.19 lakh by promising a loan of Rs50 lakh in May.
A team comprising assistant commissioner of police (cyber) Nilesh More and senior inspector Radhika Phadke arrested the suspect - Bharatkumar Jainath Gupta (32) of New Delhi.
The cybercrime cell of Pune studied the money trails and details of the woman's transactions to the bank account in May.

The police said the woman got a call from a man, who claimed himself to be from a private bank. He promised to process her loan within a few days but told her to pay processing and other charges, collectively worth Rs11.19 lakh.
After waiting for a few days, the woman realized she had been duped. The police suspect Gupta has duped people from different parts of the country.
