PUNE: The Federation of All Maharashtra Petrol Dealers’ Association (Fampeda) will join a nation-wide strike on September 3 in protest against the marker system used by companies for checking adulteration in fuels.Fampeda spokesperson Ali Daruwala said around 3,600 dealers in the state along with several others across the nation will observe the closure.
"The companies have been conducting chemical analysis tests to check adulteration in fuels. However, we have no right to check the same. We are not against the tests, but we want to know the procedure," he said.
Elaborating more on the tests, Daruwala said the companies have been using a marker system. "When the fuel reaches Loni Kalbhor, it is checked through doping test. However, when it reaches dealers, there is no measure to check whether it is adulterated," he said.In the absence of any check by dealers, Daruwala alleged the companies have been scrapping licences of dealers, if they are found with adulterated fuel. "When the fuel reaches us, we can perform only density test. By no way, we can understand whether we are receiving unadulterated fuel," he said. The association has threatened to intensify the stir if their demands are not met.
