Police announce road closures and traffic diversions for Bakrid in Pimpri Chinchwad
Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad traffic branch has announced road closures and traffic diversions in the Nigdi and Chikhali areas between May 28 and May 29 for Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid.
While namaz prayers will be offered at mosques and Eidgah grounds across the city, the main congregation will be held at the Eidgah ground at Chapekar Chowk. Traffic heading towards and coming from the ground will be diverted via alternative routes.
Similarly, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has set up a temporary slaughterhouse near Hockey Stadium Chowk in MIDC Bhosari. The traffic branch has also proposed diversions in the area to avoid congestion.
Under Nigdi traffic division, diversions will remain in force from 5am to 5pm on May 28. Entry will remain closed to all types of vehicles from Mari Aai Mata Mandir to Chapekar Chowk and vice versa. Instead, vehicles coming from the temple can take a left turn near the SKF company and proceed ahead via Ahinsa Chowk or 7 Orange Hospital, and those coming from the other side can take a right near the Old Octroi Naka and use the same two alternative routes to their destinations.
Under this division, entry for vehicles from Morayanagar to Chapekar Chowk will also remain prohibited. Commuters will have to take a right near the Hanuman Mandir and proceed via 7 Orange Hospital.
In Chikhali traffic division limits, diversions are being enforced from 6am on May 28 to 9pm on May 29. Entry to all types of vehicles will remain prohibited between Hockey Stadium Chowk and Gulab Pushpa Udyan Chowk.
The first alternative route for vehicles from Nehrunagar is via Hockey Stadium Chowk to the K-ward office, a left near the BHTC company towards Gulab Pushpa Udyan Chowk and then ahead. The other diversion for those travelling from Gulab Pushpa Udyan Chowk to Hockey Stadium is a left from the former junction, via BHTC company and the K-ward office towards their destination.
