Ravet police arrest criminal, seize country-made pistol and cartridge
Pune: The Ravet police on Wednesday arrested a 42-year-old criminal on the records of the Solapur police and seized a country-made pistol and a cartridge from his possession.A Ravet police team led by assistant inspector Sandip Deshmukh nabbed the accused, Nitin Patil, at Kate Vasti in Punawale on Tuesday night.
Deshmukh said the police received information that one person was threatening people with a firearm. A police team reached the spot and took Patil into custody."Patil was threatening his wife and her sister. His wife runs a mess in Punawale. On Tuesday night, he came to Punawale and ordered hiswife to shut her business and return to Solapur district," Deshmukh said.The officer saidthat when Patil's sister-in-law, who stays nearby, tried to talk to him, Patil threatened her with the pistol. "His wife intervened, but Patil threatened her too. He also abused and threatened people who had gathered at the spot. The terrified people alerted the police," he said.Deshmukh said Patil has previous cases, including a murder, registered against him with the Solapur police. "At present, he is on the run in a case under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act registered with the Solapur police," he said.The police produced Patil before the court, which remanded him to police custody for two days.
