Two held on charge of robbery in Chakan

Pune: The Chakan North police on Sunday arrested two men on the charge of assaulting and robbing a 27-year-old man of his cash of Rs6,000. The robbery happened on Saturday, when the victim was on his way home on his scooter. The complainant sustained severe injuries on his face, police said.

The arrested duo have been identified as Rohan Ghogare ( 35), and Vivek Kurhade ( 24), both of Chakan. They have been charged under Section 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

An officer from the Chakan police said that on Saturday evening, the complainant was driving towards home on his moped, when the duo stopped him. They thrashed him with a stick and punched him on in his face. “The duo robbed Rs 6,000 from his wallet and fled,” the officer said.

He said that after getting the complaint, the police team swung into action and nabbed the duo. “Our investigations are on,” he said.
