Woman sets son, herself ablaze
Before she died, she gave a statement accusing her husband of mental and physical abuse.
The Pimpri police identified the deceased as Rekha Bharat Gaikwad (32) and her son Aakash (9). Abhishekh (5) and Rahul (12) sustained burns.
Rekha died on Saturday morning.
Around 10.30 pm on Friday, Rekha doused her sleeping sons with kerosene and poured some on herself as well. She switched on the gas and then set herself ablaze.
Local residents heard the cries of the children and broke open the door. The residents and police rushed the children and their mother to Yashwantrao Chavan memorial hospital and then took Rekha to Sassoon general hospital, where she died.
