Raipur: A 47-year-old man riding a bike came under the grip of truck when it suddenly took a turn and was crushed to death at around 7PM on Thursday near Sankara overbridge of Raipur district.
The police officials said that Bhupendra Sahu, a resident of Kharora near Raipur, was heading towards his home from a family function when near the Sankra overbridge, a heavy vehicle travelling from Bilaspur road to Raipur suddenly took a turn.
The speeding biker rammed into the heavy vehicle, came under the wheels and was dragged for 30 meters. By the time the truck driver stopped the vehicle, the victim was crushed to death.
The locals stopped their vehicles to help the victim and informed the police. While the crowd was gathered near the victim after the accident, a VIP convoy passed by but it did not stop, added the police.
Due to the crowd, the driver of the heavy vehicle somehow managed to escape. The body of the deceased was sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination and family was informed. A report has been filed and the investigation is underway, said the police.TNN
