RAIPUR: An 18-year-old girl died due to dengue late on Wednesday evening in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district. The girl died during her treatment at Jagdalpur medical college.
More than 800 dengue patients have been identified in the state. According to the government data, due to this disease in July, four people have lost their lives in Bastar district, while this is the second death due to dengue within three days in August, making this is the sixth death recorded in the district due to dengue.
Two days ago, a businessman also died during treatment.
The 18-year-old was a resident of Jagdalpur city and was admitted to a private hospital for dengue treatment. When there was no improvement in her health, she was referred to the medical college Jagdalpur on Tuesday. She died on Wednesday late in the evening during the treatment, added an official.
The official added that all the necessary precautions including spraying repellent, and door-to-door surveys are being done, all the dengue-prone areas have been identified and daily reports are being submitted.
Jagdalpur is mentioned to be the hotspot of dengue while other districts including Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Dantewada, Balodabazar, Dhamtari, and Rajnandgaon have recorded the highest number of dengue patients.
Due to the rain lashing the state, dirt and mosquitoes have spread in several wards of Jagdalpur city. Many of the private colony’s drains have been blocked.
In residential areas, people said that due to the blockage of drains breeding of mosquitoes and larvae is increasing and no one is paying attention. While the areas are littered with dirt all around.
