A jawan of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was killed on Monday and a civilian injured in two separate IED blasts triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.

Raipur: A jawan of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was killed on Monday and a civilian injured in two separate IED blasts triggered by Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.
The incident took place at Maraigude on the under-construction road of Maraiguda-Golapalli route when an IED was triggered around 11.45am leaving a DRG jawan on duty Makdam Joga severely injured.

He later succumbed to injuries.
Police said that a composite team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and DRG was patrolling the region, ensuring security at the construction site when Joga an assistant constable stepped on a landmine laid by Maoists that triggered the blast. Though the jawan was rushed to nearest hospital at Bhadrachalam in Tasaelangana, he died while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, another explosion took place on the same route within a span of half an hour when an earth moving machine hit an IED during road construction and the driver of machine was injured in the blast.
Another development, a major incident was averted after the security forces recovered two IEDs laid by Maoists close to a school premises at a village in Bijapur district in Bastar. CRPF jawans, who seized the bombs, said that Maoists had plans for two serial blasts to hurt security personnel but like in the past incidents, villagers have come in contact with such IEDs and were killed. "Similar incident could have happened to school going students," the said.
The bombs weighing 2kg each were planted at Basaguda route targeting security personnel.
