Doctors attending to her say that she calls herself 'Amika Bai'. But, she fails to give any clue, which could help identify her family. "She speaks in Oriya dialect, which we cannot comprehend," said doctors.
Officials revealed that the woman, who apparently hails from Odisha, had come to the hospital a few days before her delivery, but was refused to be admitted as she could not identify herself. "The woman was not admitted as rules do not permit us to admit unidentified people," said an official on condition of anonymity.
She delivered the child on Raipur streets. When this information reportedly reached the SDM, he ordered the hospital authorities to admit her.
Talking to TOI, JNMC, medical superintendent, Dr Vivek Choudhary, said a notice has been issued to the private security agency for the lapse. He said the authorities are scrutinizing the footages of CCTVs installed at hospital corridors and gates. Incidentally, the hospital lacks a CCTV in the ward where the woman is admitted. Moudhapara police, who are investigating the matter, have prepared a list of all the patients discharged from the hospital's psychiatry ward in the last couple of days, to check their involvement in the girl's kidnapping.
