Blockade by disabled people

Hundreds of disabled people under the banner of Garhwa Zila Viklang Sangh on Friday blocked NH-75 at Ranka Mor in Garhwa and sat on a dharna for fousr hours to press for their 11-point demands, disrupting vehicular traffic.

GARHWA: Hundreds of disabled people under the banner of Garhwa Zila Viklang Sangh on Friday blocked NH-75 at Ranka Mor in Garhwa and sat on a dharna for fousr hours to press for their 11-point demands, disrupting vehicular traffic.
The blockade began around 11am and continued till 3pm. The protesters were shouting anti-government slogans. Their main demands include immediate release of pension that has been pending for the past one and a half years, appointment of unemployed educated handicapped people on vacant posts on contract basis or daily wages, formation of a Viklang Ayog in Jharkhand and allotment of a plot of land to the organization for opening an awareness centre-cum residential school.

The blockade was lifted after Garhwa SDM A Muthu Kumar, district social welfare officer Ranjeet Lal and others assured them of considering their demands. The SDM assured them that their pending pension would be released in next 20 days.
