Bokaro Police Arrest MBA Graduate, Son of Sub-Inspector, for Extortion and Arms Possession
Bokaro: Police on Sunday arrested three youths, including the son of a sub-inspector, on charges of extortion and illegal possession of arms. The prime accused, Rajneesh Raj (25), has nearly nine criminal cases registered across different police stations in Bokaro district for extortion and arms-related offences. The other accused were identified as Salman Ahmad Khan (25), and Mohammad Saifuddin (28).Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh described Rajneesh as a “highly educated and tech-savvy criminal”.

“An MBA graduate from Pune, he is well-versed in modern technology and digital applications, which he allegedly used to execute crimes and evade law enforcement,” he said. The SP further revealed that Rajneesh was familiar with the use of the dark web —an encrypted part of the internet often exploited for illegal activities.A police team tracked and arrested the trio from near Bandhdih railway overbridge. During interrogation, the accused persons allegedly confessed to opening fire at the Bandhdih railway siding in Sept 2025 to intimidate a contractor for not paying extortion money, an incident in which a tractor driver was injured. Police said the trio was planning another firing to spread fear.A country-made 7.65 mm pistol, eight live cartridges, extortion threat notes, a car, and a wireless dongle were recovered from the accused.
