Bokaro police bust illegal mini gun manufacturing unit; four arrested while kingpin evades capture
Bokaro: An illegal mini gun manufacturing unit operating in a quarter of the Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) at Subhash Nagar in Bokaro district was busted and four persons were arrested, police said on Wednesday.
SP Bokaro Nathu Singh Meena said that they received a confidential input from STF Patna (Bihar) post which a special raiding team was constituted under the supervision of sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Vashisth Narayan Singh to conduct the operation.
During the late-night raid, the team found the accused were manufacturing illegal firearms operating in the CCL residence belonging to one Raj Kumar Singh alias Bunty at Subhash Nagar. The alleged kingpin, Raj Kumar Singh alias Bunty, managed to flee, the SP added.
Those arrested were identified as Usman Ansari alias Arman of Deoghar, and Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Imtiyaz and Sanjay Kumar Saw alias Sanjay Kumar Gupta of Munger district in Bihar.
Singh said, “The accused have confessed during interrogation that they were engaged in manufacturing country-made firearms for several years and had earlier been jailed in similar cases in different states.”
Acting on their disclosures, a large cache of semi-finished weapon parts and machinery used in manufacturing firearms was seized.
SP said, “The accused have extensive criminal records linked to Arms Act violations and other serious offences in Jharkhand and Bihar. Raids are on to nab other members connected to the network and trace the supply chain of the illegal weapons racket.”
