He had previously cultivated poppy plants, which were destroyed by authorities, but he managed to salvage and process the remaining crops into opium.

Ranchi: A drugs peddler was arrested with 1.7kg of opium from Dundigadha village under the Tupudana police outpost limits on Saturday, police said.SP (City ) Ajit Kumar said, “The arrested was identified as Suraj Kerketta, a resident of Kurkutia village under the Khunti police station limits. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act.DSP of the Hatia police station, PK Mishra, said, “Acting on inputs, police personnel contacted him impersonating as buyer. After several rounds of talks, Kerketta agreed to come to Dundigadha. He was nabbed and the drugs was seized.”“Kerketa had grown poppy plants, which were destroyed by police. He, however, managed to extricate the poppy from the razed crops and manufactured the opium,” the DSP added.
