Gumla Nagar Parishad Chairperson Race: 9 Women Candidates Emerge After Scrutiny

Gumla: Nine women remained in the fray for the post of Gumla Nagar Parishad chairperson after the scrutiny of nomination forms were completed on Thursday. The post of Gumla Nagar Parishad is reserved for a woman from the tribal communities. The post was reserved for males in the last three terms.Of the nine candidates, three are being backed by Congress, BJP and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. While the Congress is backing Sita Devi, the BJP is backing Shakuntala Oraon. Harshita Toppo is being backed by JMM.“Nine candidates are in the fray after scrutiny of nomination papers on Thursday,” Shashindra Barik, additional collector cum returning officer, said. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is Friday.
