Jamshedpur Forest Officials Eye Kolkata Kingpin in Wildlife Smuggling Bust

Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur forest division officials are likely to contact their Bengal counterparts with leads pertaining to the smuggling of wildlife items and the arrest of three persons here on Monday.In the wake of the arrested smugglers revealing to the foresters that the kingpin of the gang operates the illegal trade from Kolkata, the Jamshedpur foresters are planning to take the Bengal forest department on board for further investigation.“We are on the job; more arrests are likely in the coming days,” a forest official of the Jamshedpur division said.Notably, the forest officials have apprehended three smugglers and recovered parakeets, cockatiels and deer antlers from them on Sunday.“Our preliminary probe suggests that the accused are part of the larger gang having links to different states,” DFO Saba Alam had said.
