RANCHI: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Friday said it was contemplating taking up both legal and political steps against the Enforcement Directorate's fresh summons to chief minister Hemant Soren for questioning in a land-grabbing case.
JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya also made a subtle hint that the party could also resort to economic blockade in the coming days.

"We provide the highest amount of mineral resources to the country. If we get angry, the whole country's power could get turned off," he warned.
Soren received the ED's summons for questioning in a land-grabbing case on August 8 and has been asked to report to the agency's regional office at Hinoo here on August 14 for questioning.
Bhattacharya said the ED was working under the direction of the BJP-led Union government and was trying to destabilize the incumbent state government by maligning Soren's image and falsely implicating him.
"The previous BJP government under former CM Raghubar Das accused the Soren family of usurping land. They constituted a special investigation team (SIT) which carried out probes. But the SIT did not find anything," Bhattacharya said.
Now, it is surprising that the chief minister is being implicated over a plot of land on which the state government has asked the district administration to conduct a probe. They must not forget that the CM is the son of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren who fought against landlords. The CM is not afraid. We will fight this battle both politically and legally," Bhattacharya said.

"It all started with probing MNREGA scam, which was originally raised by us back then. In that particular case, the erstwhile Raghubar Das government gave a clean chit to all the corrupt practices and bureaucrats, who were later arrested by the ED. Begining from there they laid hands on mining scam and when they failed to prove any role of the current government, they are now trying different ways to harass the CM and our government," Bhattacharya added.
The veteran JMM office bearer did not clear the air on whether Soren will face the ED sleuths on Monday.
