JAMSHEDPUR: The mismanagement at the Gopal Maidan on Thursday spoiled the mood of many a young visitors who had to jostle for space within the barricades even as one half of the ground remained unoccupied.
The youngsters, particularly the girls, had to experience a tough time in securing a space at the VIP enclosure as crowd outnumbered the sitting capacity.
"It's very disappointing. We never anticipated this," commented Swati Ambastha of Contractor's Area, Bistupu,r who had to leave the VIP enclosure owing to chaos at the stands.
Another disappointed Modi supporter, Archana Patel said, "We had come to listen to Modi here but despite having a VIP pass we were not allowed a seat and there was no place to stand at the enclosure." Satbeer Singh, a resident of Gamharia, also complained about the poor management on the ground. "Somehow, I managed to escape the melee near the podium else I would have suffered injuries," said Singh referring to the disorder in the media enclosure following rush of unauthorized crowd into the stands.
Even the star campaigner at the venue took time out to rap the trouble makers. "I can see 10-15 people causing disturbance at media stand, please get everything organized. I apologize to the media friends for the trouble. I am sorry," said Modi.
Apparently, upset with the poor hospitality arrangement and disorder near the podium, Modi abruptly ended the speech in 20 minutes.
Denying Modi's short speech had anything to take with the disorder, the BJP leaders said Modi was in hurry as he had to travel to Bihar to address another public meeting.
