Missing Chatra man’s body found in pond, cops suspect drowning

Chatra: The body of a 30-year-old man, who was missing for the last three days, was recovered from a pond in his native village under Hunterganj police station limits of Chatra district late on Tuesday.The deceased was identified as Dilip Singh, a resident of Jabda Pandeydih village. Family members said Dilip, a father of two, had left home on the evening of June 6 for a walk and did not return.Dilip’s kin initially thought he was visiting his in-laws’. However, when his wife returned from her the home of her parents with the children, it was known that Dilip had not reached there. A search was initiated, and locals spotted a body floating in a pond on Tuesday. Prabhat Kumar, the officer-in-charge of Hunterganj police station, said, “It appears to be a case of drowning. However, all other angles are also being investigated,” he said.
