Jharkhand: More Covid-19 positive cases may be detected if testing is increased, say doctors

RANCHI: People should take common cold, cough and viral fever seriously, and get tested for Covid-19 for early detection, doctors said.
Experts said that the state has not reported enough cases may be because not enough people are getting themselves tested.
Talking to TOI, Dr Pradeep Bhattacharya of Central Trauma cum State Covid Center at RIMS said, “The only way to determine if the cold and cough are viral fever and covid - 19 infection is through testing.Testing for all viral infections in humans should take precedence. Because it is rapid and can quickly cause lung damage. People should take cold and cough seriously and undergo covid testing for early diagnosis. If a person displays symptoms such as a cold and cough, mild fever, headache, body aches, etc, they should voluntarily submit to testing. “More number of cases can be identified if testing is expanded. Dr. Dewesh Kumar, assistant professor in the department of Preventive and Social Medicine at RIMS, stated, “The incidence of viral fever has increased in now the days, with the majority of patients in the OPD with viral fever. If testing for this viral fever is conducted, the number of positive cases may rise as they will be identified.”
Despite the fact that the state health department has issued guidelines, covid testing at various locations, including railway and bus stations, is not yet operational. Although a total of ten doctors have been deputed to various public transportation locations for testing purposes, testing is not being conducted at bus stops and railway stations. However, testing has only began at airport from Saturday.
According to doctors who conduct covid testing at airports, testing is the only way to avoid the infection and is helpful for early diagnosis.
