RANCHI: Pithoria officer in-charge Anil Kumar Singh was suspended on Thursday and departmental proceeding was initiated against him for failing to act on illegal coal trade.
A team of Ranchi police headed by DSP Victor Anthony found the officer in-charge guilty of dereliction of duty as despite given two warnings to stop illegal coal trade in the area under his jurisdiction, he had failed to act.
The team also seized around 150 tonnes of illegal coal from three places under Pithoria police station. Police seized 80 tonnes from Karan brick kiln, 45 tonnes from Ankit brick kiln and 25 tonnes from jungle areas, where coal was dumped in large quantity.
SSP Praveen Kumar Singh said that two warnings to curve the flourishing illegal coal trade in the area were given to the officer in-charge but he didn't acted accordingly and was found guilty of dereliction of duty.
Meanwhile, in a major breakthrough, the police arrested one Arjun Singh alias Arjun Nayak alias Nepali Singh wanted in eight murder case with 50 live 12 bore cartridges under Bedo police station on Thursday morning.
SSP said that Singh was very notorious and was wanted in six murder cases at Gumla and two murder case of Ranchi district. "In Ranchi district, he was involved in two murders under Lapung police station," he said.
Arjun Singh was earlier associated with Jeetendra Nayak group and later he got associated with Shukra Gope and Prakash Kerketta. Both Gope and Kerketta are currently in jail.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Arjun Singh from Bedo Chowk as he was trying to courier live bullets to his group.
