Jamshedpur: The Steel City police arrested two peddlers with three sacks of marijuana weighing 26 kg, valued at Rs 2.5 lakh.
The accused, Viswajeet Biswas, a resident of Nadia district in West Bengal, and Md Tabis, a resident of Nawada district in Bihar, were apprehended from the inter-state bus terminus at Bhuyadih, under Sitaramdera police station limits, on Saturday.
Disclosing details on Sunday, deputy superintendent of police, headquarters 1, Bhola Prasad, said that the banned substance was seized while it was being transported to Bihar and Bengal.
“The accused bought it from Odisha and were about to transit to Bengal and Bihar, but in the meantime, police caught them on a tip-off,” Prasad said.
The police also recovered cash of Rs 6800 from them. Both the accused were forwarded to jail.
