Rims Ranchi Offers Free NEET UG Coaching for Govt School Students
Ranchi: The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) has announced a free coaching programme to help govt school students crack the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET) (UG).
Under the initiative, 30 selected students from govt schools across the state will receive academic guidance and mentorship from Rims students. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between privileged and underprivileged aspirants by providing access to quality preparation resources without any cost.
“The decision was taken recently in the 62nd meeting of the Rims governing body, aiming to encourage economically weaker and meritorious students from Jharkhand to pursue medical education. The students will be selected on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis after the opening of the application procedure on April 6. The coaching and mentorship will be completely free for the aspirants,” Dr Shishir Kumar, nodal officer of the NEET (UG) coaching project, said.
After completion of the selection procedure by April, the classes are expected to start from May, targeting NEET (UG) 2027.
The interested students can apply for the coaching programme by visiting the Rims official website and filling out the form available there. “For the initial year, we are not conducting any selection exam due to resource crunch. But from next year, we might hold an exam to select aspirants,” Kumar said.
The selected students, however, would be required to make their own arrangements for accommodation and meals, as the coaching assistance will be limited strictly to academic support. The coaching sessions will be conducted at a designated location on the Rims campus.
Kumar said that many students of the medical institution have already volunteered to become mentors in the training programme.
“Students of different batches have volunteered for the programme. As they have already cleared NEET (UG) and secured their seats at the medical college, they know very well how to prepare for the exam. So we thought of selecting our students as mentors for the initiative,” Kumar said.
