Ranchi: A city police team arrested wanted criminal Dilawar Khan (40) from Mandu in Ramgarh on Thursday night. Khan has been in hiding since the murder of a land dealer in the state capital in November, 2015. Despite successive raids in the past, he could not be traced.
SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi said a special police team was sent to Ramgarh upon receiving intelligence reports about his whereabouts.
"No arms were seized from his possession," said Dwivedi. Singh had shot dead Bansi Oraon, a land dealer in Bargai locality under Bariyatu police station. Singh was a business partner of Bansi. However, due to some professional disputes, the duo ended relations.
This apart, Bipin Sharma, who was arrested in Patna, was brought to Ranchi on Friday where police interrogated him. The police asked him to share information about his brother Luv Kush Sharma, the key accused in a murder bid on a government engineer in the state capital.
"He has given us clues to aid our investigation. We are working on them," Dwivedi said.
He will be produced at a local court for the extension of his remand. "He was on a 48-hour transit remand. We need extension to interrogate him further," he said.
Dwivedi clarified that contrary to certain media reports, no policeman from Ranchi police has been detained in connection with the death of the sarpanch. "Our team is in Patna to assist the police in investigation," a police officer said.
He claimed that no policeman from Ranchi was found "on the wrong side of the law" during the operation in Patna's Paliganj where a sarpanch was killed during anti-criminal operation. "All rules of the CrPC were followed," said Dwivedi.
