Woman found hanging in Palamu village
Daltonganj: Mystery shrouds the death of a woman, whose body was found hanging from a tree near her residence at Bansi Khurd village on Friday, police said.
Officer in-charge of the Manatu police station, Nirmal Oraon, said, "Acting upon a complaint lodged by the mother of the deceased, Meena Devi, a case was registered against one Dilawar Khan for abetment of suicide under section 108 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Meena submitted a video clip of her daughter with the boy."
Lesliganj sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Manoj Kumar Jha said, "We haven't found any suicide note but got the video clip. Villagers told us that the video reportedly distressed the girl, leading to her death by hanging. But the video is neither obscene nor objectionable."
Both the deceased and the accused were residents of Bansi Khurd village. Dilawar works as a daily wager. The deceased was separated from her husband and lived with her parents. Khan wished to marry her but both the families were opposed to it, police said, quoting villagers.
Probe is on, the OC stated.
