Float tenders for essential meds: HP min to officials

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh health minister Col Dhani Ram Shandil (retd) on Thursday directed officials to float tenders for 888 essential medicines, and 273 consumables and surgical items, to address the demand of healthcare institutions.
The decision came during a meeting of Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation, called to discuss ways to improve the state’s healthcare infrastructure through transparent procurement of quality medicines, consumables and equipment.
The minister said approval had been given for floating tenders for the purchase of CT scan machines for zonal, civil, and regional hospitals. These machines would be procured under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.
In all, 34 health institutions across the state would soon be equipped with these advanced diagnostic machines.
The process has also been completed for purchasing vans to enhance HIV testing and counselling services. These mobile units would provide testing and counselling services to high-risk groups (HRGs), industrial areas, and prisons.
