Himachal Pradesh irrigation scheme gets solar power

SHIMLA: In a bid to reduce pressure on traditional energy sources, the Himachal Pradesh government has started a solar-powered irrigation project to provide water to the farmers of the state.
The solar irrigation system is environment-friendly and the cost of installation is less compared to the traditional energy systems.
According to officials, under the Solar Irrigation Scheme, necessary infrastructure is being put in place to lift water from solar pumps.
