Heavy rainfall blocks NH-44 in J&K's Ramban, schools closed

The National Highway-44 in Ramban district has been blocked due to heavy rainfall, leading to the closure of schools and urging people to avoid traveling. The Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Mussarat Zia, posted on social media to inform the public about the road closure and advised them to stay updated through Traffic Control Units (TCUs). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for isolated heavy rain, lightning, and thunderstorms in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir on October 17.

SRINAGAR: The National Highway-44 in Ramban district has been blocked due to heavy rainfall, according to an official statement on Tuesday.
Mussarat Zia, the Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, took to the social media platform X to inform the public about the road closure. She urged people to avoid traveling on NH-44 today and advised them to check Traffic Control Units (TCUs) for updates.
"NH-44 is blocked at Cafeteria Morh, near Ramban, due to heavy rainfall.

People are advised to stay updated through TCUs and avoid traveling today," posted Deputy Commissioner Ramban on X.
Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Ramban announced the closure of all government and private schools up to the Higher Secondary level in Ramban due to continuous rainfall.
"In light of the continuous rainfall since yesterday, all government and private schools up to the Higher Secondary level in District Ramban will remain closed today. However, any scheduled exams will be held as per the notified date," she further stated.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for isolated heavy rain, along with a possibility of lightning and thunderstorms, in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir for October 17.
