BHARUCH: Five persons were pulled away by strong water currents of river Narmada near Nilkantheswar temple in Jadeswar area here on Monday. Four of them were saved miraculously by a sailor, while the fifth person is still missing.
A Bharuch Fire Brigade official said, "At 2.30 pm, five persons from Navi Vasahat area went into the river to perform a religious ceremony.
High currents dragged them towards the main water stream. A boatman rowing near the bank spotted them and rowed towards them. He dragged four of them out of water by turn. Suresh Solanki, Hitesh Solanki, Dinesh Solanki and an unidentified man were saved, but 18-year-old Sunil Solanki was not found."
Firemen searched in vain for few hours before calling of the search. Others were given primary aid and were released from government hospital by night. Two youths of the city had drowned at the same spot last year, sources said.
