Audio clip surfaces alleging Thane civic officer's plan to harm NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad's family

THANE: An audio clip of a telephonic conversation allegedly of a Thane civic officer claiming to have hatched a plan to harm the family of NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad has gone viral Wednesday evening sending shockwaves across the city and suburbs. This comes a day after Awhad tweeted about a possible threat to him and his family a day before.Coincidentally, soon after the video went, the officer was assaulted by a few unidentified people outside the Thane municipal corporation (TMC) headquarters.As per the conversation, the first voice, believed to be that of an assistant civic commissioner at the Thane corporation is heard telling the unidentified person on the other line how he has hatched a plan to harm his (Awhad’s) daughter and his son-in-law who are based abroad in a bid to teach him a lesson.It may be noted that the authenticity of the clip and the identity of the people heard talking in the clip have not been independently verified by this paper.The ‘officer’ in the clip is also heard telling the other person how he has already ‘planned’ and complained to the administration of a possible threat to his life from Awhad, which he claimed would cushion his actions. The caller also boasts of his connections with criminals and claims to be handling a huge volume of money for distribution among his cronies on a daily basis.The conversation also speaks about how the officer says he has also sought information on the whereabouts of Awhad’s daughter and also narrates his alternative plan wherein if the couple doesn’t return to Thane, he would create a ruckus outside his son-in-law’s parents’ home in Thane forcing them to return to ensure their safety. “I have also kept fielding even from the airport,” the ‘officer’ claims in the clip.Meanwhile, Awhad claimed he will not register any police complaint in the incident.
