Badlapur encounter case: Protests erupt over burial of accused Akshay Shinde's body in Ulhasnagar
ULHASNAGAR: Akshay Shinde, accused of sexually assaulting two girls at a school in Badlapur and who died in a police encounter is currently the center of significant protests.
Even six days after the incident, there is strong opposition to the burial of his body in the Ulhasnagar crematorium.
As soon as Shiv Sena and BJP workers learned that a pit had been dug in the Hindu crematorium of Ulhasnagar to bury Akshay Shinde, a large number of them gathered to protest, demanding that Akshay should not be buried in Ulhasnagar.
Following the protests, a significant number of police officers arrived at the scene.
An atmosphere of tension is prevailing at the crematorium due to the ongoing protests.
Earlier, after Akshay's encounter, protests were witnessed in Badlapur and later in Ambarnath and Kalyan regarding the burial of Akshay's body.
In response to the protests from locals and Shiv Sena workers, Akshay's family moved to the high court, which directed the police to bury Akshay's body.
However, despite the high court's instructions, people are still protesting against the burial.
Shiv Sena local leader Rajendra Chaudhary said that, considering the sin committed by Akshay, the people of Badlapur and nearby areas did not allow his body to be buried there and they will not allow it to be buried in Ulhasnagar either.
During this protest, along with Shiv Sena workers, local BJP leaders Kapil Adsul and Rakesh Pathak were also seen protesting alongside the Shiv Sena.
