Thane shocker: Woman’s body found floating in Retibandar Creek; police probe foul play, hunt for clues

THANE: An unidentified woman’s body was found floating near the shore of Retibandar Creek in Mumbra on Thursday evening.According to the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the control room received an alert around 5 pm from the Mumbra Fire Station about a body spotted near the Balaji Kakde Ganesh Visarjan Ghat, Retibandar.Police said the deceased appears to be a woman aged around 25 to 30 years. A team of Mumbra police officials and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot with a rescue vehicle and an ambulance. The firefighters retrieved the body from the creek and handed it over to the Mumbra police for further investigation. The body was later sent to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Kalwa, for post-mortem. The police are trying to establish the woman’s identity and ascertain the cause of death. An accidental death report was registered.
