THANE: Nearly two hours after the vaccination process at the Civil hospital was suspended temporarily as the connection to the CoWin website has snapped, the officials started the process after manually taking down contacts of the recipients.
Dr Kailash Pawar, civil surgeon at Thane said they have started administering the vaccine to ensure the opened vials don't go waste as they have a limited shelf life.

Also, it would have been incorrect to keep recipients waiting for long.
"The teams started administering vaccine to all those registered for the same by 2, nearly two hours after the system lost connection," said an on duty doctor.
Officials said the connection to the website was snapped possibly due to overload following which the drive had to be stopped since 12pm, said Dr Gauri Rathod, deputy director, health at Thane.
Around 50 health care workers have registered till now for getting the vaccine today and were asked to wait till tge same resumed.
Meanwhile, the administration said they will resume vaccination process manually to exhaust the dose from the opened vial as its life is only for four hours.
