66 movies to be screened today

South Korean director Kim Ki Duk’s final movie ‘Call of God’ is among the 66 films to be screened on the fifth day of the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Tuesday. Among these films, 11 will be screened under the international competition category.

Thiruvananthapuram: South Korean director Kim Ki Duk’s final movie ‘Call of God’ is among the 66 films to be screened on the fifth day of the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) on Tuesday.
Among these films, 11 will be screened under the international competition category.
‘Kerr’ directed by Tayfun Pirselimoglu will make its Indian premier at the festival under the international competition category.

‘A place of our own’ will also make its first screening on Tuesday. The category will also see the final screenings of ‘Hoopoe’ and ‘Klondike’.
The Malayalam movie, ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’, will also make its second screening under this category on the same day.
As many as 20 movies will be screened under the ‘World cinema’ category. ‘Stand Out’ tells the story of a failed actor turned drag queen who tries to convince his wife that his job is honourable. ‘Tropic’ tells the story of twin brothers who are astronauts. ‘Buried’, Mia Hansen-Love’s ‘One Fine Morning’ are some of the other movies set to be screened under this category.
IFFK lifetime achievement award winner Bela Tarr’s ‘Wreckmaister Harmonies’, ‘The Phantom Carriage’, accompanied by Johnny Best’s live music, will also make its single screening on Tuesday.
Ten Malayalam movies, including ‘Bakki Vannavar’, will be screened on the fifth day. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s ‘Vazhakk’ will make its second screening on the same day. The screening of ‘Paleri Manikyam...’ as a homage to T P Rajeevan, ‘Freedom Fight’, ‘Pada’, and ‘Normal’ are some other movies which will be screened on the day.
